XMP Metadata makes your images “smart”. They can now contain an abundance of truly meaningful data that helps you and your clients with a simplified & empowered digital workflow.

Simply put... the old method of Metadata (IPTC Headers) is old, locked in stone & unchangeable, while XMP Metadata is updated, flexible, includes the New IPTC & allows you to add custom fields.

XMP actually contains the new “IPTC Core” (IPTC Contact, Content, Image & Status), each one having it’s own panel of fields. Other “Panels” include Camera Data 1 & 2 (Which are Exif), Description, Origin, etc... XMP allows any custom panels that you or your client wish to add.

One great thing about XMP, is it can copy the important data back to the old IPTC headers, to insure backwards capabilities, for those not using XMP enabled systems to view your images.

Another great thing, is you can convert your RAW files to DNG and write XMP Metadata directly to your RAW images, without the need for a side-car file (which can be dangerous), but that’s another story for another day.

Bottom line... XMP & Custom Fields enable many simple and powerful workflow improvements for you and your clients. And this amazing tool is now included in all LightBox Network sites.

But this is no ordinary XMP enabled tool. The LightBox Online XMP Editor empowers you with fast application of single or multiple fields to selected images, or to an entire folder, with one click. You can save any selected fields as a preset to speed your data entry, and if you need a custom panel added for advanced entry options, just give us a call.

The Best LCD Monitor Link  If you are concerned about seeing your images on-screen as they are intended to look, or as they can and should look... then you may want to upgrade to a 10-16 bit LCD monitor. Eizo ColorEdge monitors are designed to meet the demands of professional digital photography, requiring uncompromising color accuracy. With 12- or 10-bit hardware calibration, you can enjoy the benefits of soft proofing and on-screen color checking for a more prcise and efficient workflow. (The Eizo Coloredge is reported to have the ability to show ON SCREEN the full range of Adobe 1998 RGB)

Licensing, and The Value of Copyright (By Jeff Sedlik, APA) Link  The ex-president of the APA, Jeff Sedlik (professional photographer) shares some amazing information, to help you make more money with your images. "The APA does NOT advise that photographers respond to the wavering economy and evolving marketplace by selling or giving away their copyrights. Your ownership of these rights, together with your clients’ acceptance of your right to such ownership will determine your future ability to make a living in this industry." - Jeff Sedlik.

Thanks again for the great site!
- Peter Buckingham, Fashion Photographer, New York

"Photographers today need an integrated workflow because the demand for quick
turnarounds are ever greater. They need the ability to organize their images quickly and
collaborate immediately with clients about editing and retouching. Also, photographers
want to get off their computers as soon as possible in order to have more time for shooting.
The LightBox Network makes workflow and communication processes available in one
simple integrated internet system. There's nothing else like it."
- Lexy Scott, (Owner) The Workbook, Los Angeles

I LOVE lightbox!!!!!! Thank you- it is making my job sooooo much easier!!!!
- Milissa Douponce, Photo Editor, NBC-Universal, Burbank

For true professional image collaboration... LightBox is the solution. It was developed
by professional photographers to solve their real world digital collaboration problems...
the LightBox is simple and powerful, with an obvious understanding of the actual
workflow that occurs between photographers and clients.

- Jason Devaney,
(Owner), DPI, New York (Professional Digital Photography Rentals)

"In an instant, LightBox has changed the way I do post production. I'm pretty tech savvy,
and I have always created my own systems of delivering shots to a client, which included
a photoshop action set and a custom tweaked html web proof. This time consuming
process was hardly ideal, but it was the only reasonably affordable way for me to deliver
exactly what I wanted my client to see. THEN I DISCOVERED The Lightbox... AMAZING!
Forget about the hours of time I save at the end of a shoot, or the fact that I actually
deliver my jobs much faster. Lightbox gives me custom fit tools that I would not have
been able to develop on my own. Lightbox is now a fully integrated part of my workflow,
providing a venue for me and my clients to remotely collaborate using sophisticated
web tools quickly and easily."
-Alexx Henry, Advertising Photographer, Los Angeles
